Eli Tapscott was born in 1855 in Moorlinch Somerset, and died after 1927 in Bridgwater, Somerset. He married Matilda Chinn in 1883 in Bridgwater, Somerset, daughter of William Chinn and Elizabeth Pitman. She was born in 1861 in Westonzoyland, Somerset, and died in 1950 in Bridgwater, Somerset.

Eli was a groom and gardener who in 1891 was living with his wife and children at Grosvenor Villas, Bridgwater. By 1901 they had moved to 17 Wembdon Road, Bridgwater, four houses up the road from his brother Fred and one of the row built by Fred’s construction company.

Eli reported the death of his youngest brother, Robert Vincent Tapscott, to the registrar in Dorchester in 1906. He appears in Kelly’s directory of residents in 1927 at 1 Coronation Road, Bridgwater.

Annie Matilda Tapscott who was born in 1885 in Bridgwater Somerset. She married Harry Slocombe in 1911 in Bridgwater, Somerset and they had a daughter, Marie, in 1912.
